Where captions get cut off
No network publishes where its feed folds a caption behind “…more”, and it changes with the device, the app version and your line breaks. The checker uses the figures most guides agree on — about 125 characters on Instagram, 210 on LinkedIn and 477 on Facebook — so treat the preview as a guide, and put the line that matters first.
How we checked these
Every limit links to the page it comes from, almost all of them the networks' own help centres, developer docs or announcements. Facebook no longer publishes a number, so its limit is the one it gave in 2011, marked as a third-party source.

2,200 characters, with up to 5 hashtags and 20 mentions. Only about the first 125 characters show before "…more", so put the hook first.
How many hashtags can I use on Instagram?
5 per post or reel. Instagram cut the limit from 30 on 18 December 2025.
What is the LinkedIn post character limit?
3,000 characters, for personal profiles and company pages alike. The feed shows roughly the first 210 characters before "…see more".
How does X count characters?
Up to 280, weighted: most letters count 1, emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters count 2, and every link counts as 23 however long it is. Premium accounts can post up to 25,000.
What is the TikTok caption limit?
2,200 characters when you post through TikTok's API, which is what scheduling tools use. A photo post has a 90-character title and a 4,000-character description.
What is the Threads character limit?
500 characters. Emoji count as their size in bytes, usually 4 each, and a post may carry at most 5 links.
How long can a Pinterest description be?
800 characters, and the title 100. Many guides still say 500, but Pinterest's own specs allow 800.
